Track 1 - "Powerful Grassroots Campaigns" 
Presented by Nick Arena, Chief Operations Officer for RESULTS

Session 1 - Small Steps, Big Impact
RESULTS' story of powerful grassroots action to overcome poverty and third world health issues provides lessons for public health advocates in Indiana. Learn skills for evidence-based communication with policy makers and for mobilizing the community to get behind strong public health policy.

Session 2 - Put it into Practice
RESULTS organizers and local experts will facilitate an interactive, hands-on session. Apply skills for successful communication with policy makers and the public and for mobilizing partners around issues that are important to you and your work.  

Track 2 - "Local Health Departments - Finding Efficiencies in Collaborations"

Session 1 - Indiana Collaboration Success Stories
Panel of three LHD Administrators with collaboration success stories will describe programs and services they've shared with neighboring LHDs, benefits and obstacles they've overcome, and formal agreements they've put in place, followed by Q&A.  

Session 2 - Dialogue and Matchmaking
Facilitated discussions to identify actual opportunities for new and/or expanded collaborations among neighboring LHDs.

About our featured presenters...

Donna L. Brown, JD, MPH has been Government Affairs Counsel and Senior Advisor for Public Affairs at the National Association of County and City Health Officials since 1997.  She previously served for five years as Director of Policy Affairs at the American College of Preventive Medicine.  She has held positions in health policy and government affairs at other nonprofit organizations, including the Children's Defense Fund, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the National Association of Counties.  She also served a six-year term as an appointed member of the D.C. General Hospital Commission. Brown received her BA and MPH degrees from Yale University and her law degree from Georgetown University, where she served as an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal.

Nick Arena is Chief Operating Officer of RESULTS. The mission of RESULTS is to create the public and political will to end poverty by empowering individuals to exercise their personal and political power for change. They combine the voices of passionate grassroots activists with strategic grass-tops efforts to leverage millions of dollars for programs and improved policies that give low-income people the health, education, and opportunity they need to thrive.
